Learn to Hand Sew

Day One Project:
Day 1 participants will divide up the materials and decorate their containers. Each child will be given a muslin square with a tree trunk already embroidered on the square to create a tree. Students will learn how to thread a needle, tie a know at the end of the thread, center a project on an embroidery hoop, and sew on buttons. Each child will sew buttons on the tree to create the front of their small pillow. Instructor will sew the backing (student choice), leaving an opening for turning. The participants will stuff the pillow and learn how to whip stitch the opening closed.
Day Two Project:
Participants will create a stuffie using felt. They will have the option of creating their own animal or pattern provided by the instructor. Cutting and hand sewing skills will be involved. Each student may use buttons, permanent markers, or other materials to decorate their stuffies.
