Junior Police Academy-- Hosted by the Lancaster Police Department, this summer program is designed to strengthen the connection between public safety and local youth, our goal is to give you a chance to see what it’s like to become a police officer. This week we will offer multiple police-oriented and fire activities with the goal of having some fun and learning more about what we do.

This program is modeled loosely after the public safety academy’s that we attend to become sworn officers. This week you will be introduced to activities such as competing in an obstacle course, group marching drills and field events, fingerprinting, crime prevention and other indoor and outdoor classes. Cadets also get a first-hand look inside police equipment such as patrol cars, special use vehicles, and fire department apparatus. Cadets will also participate in basic handcuffing, simple self-defense tactics, personal safety principles and other police related, and age-appropriate skills geared to be fun, but challenging.

At the conclusion of the academy, students will participate in a graduation ceremony and receive a certificate that acknowledges their active participation, endurance, and hard work.
